IM Medical Trolley

The IM Medical Trolley is a fully portable device providing non-medical and medical professionals with critical cardiovascular information determining a patient’s risk of developing cardiovascular disease. The non-invasive cardiovascular tool measures factors including a patient’s blood pressure, arterial stiffness, electrical activity of the heart, and heart rate variability. This device is due to be provided to both clinics & health facilities alike, allowing local staff to obtain critical patient information and send data back to IM Medical's medical experts for assessment.

Biomedical Windows Software Development

Working within the biomedical industry, we have designed and developed various custom software applications to meet the specific needs of researchers and medical professionals. Data acquisition software systems were developed to enable us to gather data and perform critical vigilance tests, while analysis software provides us with the means to graphically display and analysis this data.

First Aid Dictionary

This First Aid Dictionary is a hand-held electronic device providing users with fast and convenient access to vital medical information. Featuring a large colour LCD touch panel display and computer synthesized voice instructions, this first aid dictionary offers users immediate medical assistance.

Neuro Vu – Brain Wave Monitoring System

NeuroVu is a state of the art market research tool which measures neural activity in human test subjects to derive valuable information on product perception. Grey was brought in to help move this technology from its university origins to a commercial grade product. We overhauled the software and hardware systems to create a stable platform which is easy to use, and which could be produced for a fraction of the cost of the original system.

Optalert

Optalert is a revolutionary drowsiness monitoring technology. Using sensors integrated into driving glasses to monitor the movements of eyes and eyelids, Optalert warns drivers of their drowsy state before it reaches a dangerous level. Working with Sleep Diagnostics for the past eight years, Grey Innovation has helped move this technology from its research origins to a commercially viable product. In this time, Sleep Diagnostics has evolved into a company employing more than 15 employees with substantial financial backing. Providing software, hardware and mechanical design expertise for Sleep Diagnostics, Grey has played a critical role in preparing the product for market. Although Optalert is still in the early stages of commercialization, the technology has received extensive worldwide publicity and attention.

Mems-ID – RFID Technology

MEMS-ID is commercialising a passive RFID technology as an alternative to integrated circuit-based RFID devices. Because they are mechanical, MEMS-ID devices have a number of advantages over RFID devices, such as tolerating a much wider range of environmental conditions, and being able to record data while unpowered. Grey Innovation developed the prototype interrogator system to read the novel RFID devices, and was able to introduce MEMS-ID to some key industry leaders such as 3M.

Fred Bergman Healthcare – Continence Monitor

Fred Bergman Healthcare is commercialising a diagnostic diaper system for residents of aged care homes. The pad discreetly monitors wetness incidents, estimates the level of wetness, detects other clinically relevant conditions and alerts staff by transmitting information via radio link to a central management station. Grey Innovation developed the complete prototype system for Fred Bergman Healthcare, consisting of a diaper with wetness sensor and wireless transmitter, a detection algorithm, a repeater system and base station, and PC-side software that interfaced with an SMS system to send alerts to nursing staff. The system was successfully trialed in late 2006.
